Installation of SKANDINAVIA [ROTERA] Wood Slat Room Dividers
SKANDINAVIA Slat Room Dividers are very easy to install using our unique self-aligning installation system.
First step is to determine the distance of centerpoints of the slats. This depends on if you would like to have overlapping pattern or flat pattern when the slats are in closed position. (see How Many Slats Do I Need?)
Once you have determined the distance, measure and mark the center point of the brackets on the ceiling and floor.
The centerpoints should be exactly aligned. You can use either of the methods shown in Finding Plum Points achieve this.
Determine the distance of the centerpoints based on your application and your taste.
Installation Steps:
- Determine the distance between the centerpoints of the slats (see How Many Slats Do I Need?)
- Measure and mark the centerpoints of slats either on the floor or the ceiling using any of the two methods.
- Mark the corresponding point on the other surface (ceiling or floor).
- Install the ceiling brackets. You need to drill a hole with diameter 7/16" and push the bracket into it. You can use a 3/8" drill bit and make the hole slightly wider.
- Install floor brackets by screwing them in place using one screw in the middle/center.
- Cut and fit the slats one at a time. The distance of floor to ceiling could be different for each slat.
- Cut the slats 11/16” (18mm) less than the distance between the floor and ceiling to account for the thickness of the installation hardware. This will result in no gap between slat and floor and ceiling. Leave 1/4” extra of space at the top of slat if you wish to be able to remove the slats at a later time. This space will help accessing the push pin.
- Attach the bottom and top caps to the slats using screws provided. Apply some PL Premium between the slats and caps for stronger bond.
- Remove the push pin from the top cap. and dry-fit the slats to make sure that everything is aligned and looks good.
- Put back the push pin and install the slats using the guide tool to protect the ceiling and for easy installation. The track in the guide tool will guide the push pin to the hole in the ceiling bracket.
