Wood Slat Room Divider FAQ

The minimum order is 12 slats. Dividers are sold by the individual slat rather than as a fixed-width panel, so you order exactly the number your opening needs. To work out that number, use Build & Price Your Divider, which calculates the slat count from your wall width and ceiling height and adds the right quantity to your cart. Three of the five finishes are pre-finished and ready to install: Walnut, Dark Walnut and White Oak, each a genuine wood veneer over a plywood core. No sanding, staining or sealing is required.

The other two are supplied ready for you to finish. Paintable is primed high-density MDF, made to be painted any colour to match your trim or walls. Unfinished / Stainable is raw veneer, made to be stained to match an existing finish in the room.

Standard cross-sections are 2"×4", 2"×5" and 2"×6".

Lengths depend on the system. ROTERA, the rotating design, is available in 8 ft and 9 ft. FIXERA, the fixed design, is available in 8 ft, 9 ft, 10 ft, 11 ft and 12 ft. For heights above 9 ft in a veneered finish, or above 10 ft in Paintable or Stainable, dividers are built using extensions.

We manufacture custom cross-sections, including profiles thicker than our standard 2"×4", 2"×5" and 2"×6" — contact us with your dimensions for a quote. Lengths are supplied in the standard 8–12 ft range only; you cut to your exact ceiling height during installation.

We also fabricate angle brackets matched to your exact ceiling pitch for vaulted and sloped ceilings, using the FIXERA system.

Yes — cutting is part of every installation. Slats are supplied in standard 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 ft lengths, and each one is cut to fit on site as it goes in. That's by design: floor-to-ceiling distance varies across a room, so every slat is measured individually. Current production lead time is 2 to 4 weeks. Every divider is manufactured to order rather than picked from stock, which is what allows custom sizes and finishes. Samples ship separately and arrive much sooner.

Shipping is a flat fee to of $400 for an order anywhere in the USA and Canada, and 8" samples ship free. There is no sales tax on US orders, and we pay all customs and clearance fees — the price you see is the price you pay.

A typical divider goes up in a few hours, either DIY or with a contractor. The bracket system is self-aligning, so once you have marked and aligned the centre points on the ceiling and floor with a laser level or plumb bob, the slats seat at consistent spacing without individual measuring.
